This site provides a multitude of free resources for teachers. The purpose of the site is to provide effective instructional tools for teachers that save time and energy. A team of professional teachers, professors, educational consultants, and experienced Web designers maintain the site. Lesson plans, worksheets, rubrics, classroom organizers, teaching tutorials, a Web site builder, games, and newsletters are accessible for teachers of all levels on this site.

Memberships, providing teachers with even more resources, are available for this site from $29.99 to $49.00 per year.

2). ABC Teach
Grades K - 8

On ABC Teach, teachers have access to an extensive library of downloadable documents from worksheets to flashcards to clip art. Numerous documents are free, but a membership ($35.00/yr) affords teachers access to all documents on the site.

3). Create a Rubric
Grades K-12

Need to create a rubric? This site is for you. RubiStar helps teachers create rubrics by providing generic rubrics for a variety of types of projects. The generic rubrics can be customized to fit your needs. You simply choose a category to evaluate and the rubric is ready for you to customize and print. Registration is free and registered users can save their rubrics online.

4). WebQuests

Linked on the Parma City School Web site is an index of sites containing WebQuests. There are numerous sites listed that provide high quality WebQuests to use in the classroom. WebQuests provide students with activities using higher level thinking skills.

1). Thinkfinity

Thinkfinity is a power teacher tool that was created through the merger of the Verizon Literacy Network and Verizon MarcoPolo. Thinkfinity contains more than 55,000 educational resources for teachers, including standards-based K-12 lesson plans, student materials, interactive tools and links to educational web sites. It contains more than 40 online courses, activities for English language learners and ESL instructors, and research and statistics related to the importance of literacy development.

Under Teacher Resources, you will find a calendar, featured resources, and new resources along with an extensive index of lesson plans which can be searched by topic and grade level. Under the Professional Development section, free training is available. Take some time to explore this site.

2). Free Federal Resources for Educational Excellence

This free federal site provides over 1,500 teaching resources from the federal government. It is maintained by the U.S. Department of Education. A powerful search engine is provided with the ability to search by subject area or by a specific topic. This is a fantastic site to use when looking for Web sites and lessons.

3). Kathy Shrock's Guide for Educators

Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators provides a categorized list of educational sites. There is a puzzle maker, a lesson plan library, and links to numerous other activities. The site is updated frequently so be sure to check it out.

4). Edutopia

Edutopia.org and Edutopia magazine were founded by the George Lucas Educational Foundation. On this site, you will find a rich collection of best practices, classroom tips, interactive learning environments, media resources, recommendations for district wide changes, along with success stories from the field. The Foundation is dedicated to helping children become lifelong learners and to helping them develop skills needed to succeeded in our society.
