Online Collaborative Projects1). The Many Faces of the Homelessness
Grades K – 12This Web site provides a unique look at homelessness. Students will learn about poverty and homelessness through podcasts, personal stories, images, and a multimedia gallery. Students can also get involved in projects and contests. They can contribute their personal photos, interviews, or stories. The site is divided by age level so all ages can investigate and learn from this site at the appropriate level.
2 ). Friendship through Education
Grades 3 - 12The Friendship through Education program was initiated by the U.S. Department of Education. After the events of September 11, 2001, the Department of Education wanted to build lasting relationships between children of all cultures.
Some of the participating organizations are: CyberSchoolbus, ePals, Global Schoolnet, iEarn, NetAid, Worldwise Schools, People to People, Schools Online, Sister Cities, and UNICEF. These organizations are asking teachers to participate in one or more of the numerous projects available online on the Friendship through Education Web site. Students can join a project, communicate with other students, or build Web sites to help build friendships across the globe.
